Gankutsuo: The Count of Monte Cristo, a first late look

After days of recommendations from other niggas, I finally got around to watching Gankutsuo. Basically, this is a quick impression i got out of it.

I was skeptical at first because i have a thing against weirdly animated shows like this and the people i know from the [as] hoards all seem to dickride shows like this. I tried to ingest Kaiba and it just didn’t do it for me, and i have no intention of watching Trapeze either this fall season.

Though this show here surprised me. It was interesting to keep me around. It had the type of interesting to keep me around. I’m told it has a little of everything, and that includes shonen-ai, which i DO NOT WANT. Hell, Albert seems to have a bit of homolust for the count. But that didn’t bother me much since i’m trying to see what the hell’s so good about this show.

But anyway, The show is unique and has its spin to it. I mean, sure the colors and animation is odd beyond belief, but I can get used to it if I’m provided enough entertainment. The Count himself is the most interesting character in this show so far, and I can feel that he’ll continue to be interesting.

The guy made the show for me. At this point it feels like I’m talking about the guy instead of the show, but It’s hard to deny how interesting he is, IMO.

I’ll occasionally blog about this show per episode as i progress through this 26 episode series.

  1. I watched it too. The end is kinda sad, but I still love it! The end made me cry, so beware! 😀
